| Conditions of membership
Library membership is free to
-
All ratepayers of Palmerston North City.

Everyone resident within the boundaries of Palmerston North City.
Using your card
-
You must present your membership card for all library services.

No more than 20 items can be issued on a membership card at any time. People with New Members or Visitor’s cards are limited to 3 items at a time.

Membership will expire if you do not use your card for 2 consecutive years.
Proof of address and new member status

Adults need to show proof of address to get full membership of the Library.

New Member status is given when no proof of address can be produced.

New members can borrow up to 3 items.

If no proof of address is produced within 6 weeks New Member status will expire.

Once proof of address is produced full membership is given.
Fines, charges, email and postal notices
- The Library takes no responsibility for e-mail or postal notices sent but not received or read.
- The Library will resume sending postal notices if an e-mail address is unreliable.
- Items returned or renewed after the due date will incur fines.
- Replacement costs for lost or damaged items or any other charges incurred will be charged to the person on whose card items were issued.
Lost cards and address changes
- Please report as soon as possible:
• loss or theft of your Library card
• loss, theft or damage of borrowed items
• change of postal or e-mail address
• cancellation of membership
- If you lose your card or it is stolen, let us know as soon as possible so we can cancel it. If it is not cancelled you will have to pay any charges which may result from your card being misused.
Suspension of borrowing rights may occur
- When fines or charges have been outstanding for more than 2 months.
- When an item is more than 4 weeks overdue.
- When unpaid fines and/or charges reach $10.
- A debt collection agency may be used to collect unresolved debts.
